Bonzo Gone Bonkers! is a stage in Frogger: Helmet Chaos featuring the titular Chief Bonzo as the boss. Like the Butterfly before him, Chief Bonzo is exclusive to the Beach path.
Description[]
Chief Bonzo is an albino crocodile that seems to usually wear a feathered headdress that he has named "Henry". However, in the game, his usual headdress has been replaced with one of Dr. Wani's mind-control helmets. Strangely enough, Chief Bonzo does not seem to act much differently, other than attacking Frogger for spoiling his dinner (and his loyalty to Wani).
After Frogger removes the helmet during the fight, Chief Bonzo comes to his senses(?) and mourns the loss of his beloved headdress until he realizes Henry's been replaced. Frogger asks if he knows where the mind-control helmet came from, but all Chief Bonzo can recall is that Dr. Wani forced him to create a monster in his factory to hide the whereabouts of his lair. He adds that the only person that was knowledgeable about the factory's location was the late Henry, but advises Frogger to try the path outside.
It is alleged that he later informed Berry that Frogger was looking for the factory, prompting her to follow him to check if he needed help, but this is not certain.
Boss Fight and Strategy[]
Chief Bonzo is an extremely simple boss. Simple to the point where, depending on how fast the player beats him, they may not even see some of his attacks and mechanics. Chief Bonzo will fly around the inside of the arena, performing chants and striking poses to attack. Frogger must hit him with his tongue in order to do damage. After which, Chief Bonzo will perform a chant the player cannot interrupt that will cause the platform(s) Frogger stands on to collapse. As the player does damage, the cloud Chief Bonzo rides on becomes smaller, and due to this, the poses he performs when doing chants will also change.
Directly after the chant is over, however, the player can once again use Frogger's tongue to attack Chief Bonzo and start the loop all over again. Doing this, it is very likely that Chief Bonzo will not be able to do any of his actual attacks.
Attacks[]
- The names for attacks are all conjectural. Replace with the official names when a source is found
Attack Name | Description | How to Dodge |
---|---|---|
Crumbling Chant | Chief Bonzo will perform a chant that causes certain platforms to crumble. | If Performed Normally: Simply hop to a platform that isn't beginning to crumble.
If Performed After Taking Damage: Continue to hop along the arena. These are treated like crumbling platforms in any other stage. Be careful not to go too fast, or you'll run out of platforms to hop on. |
Spinning Chant | Chief Bonzo will perform a chant that ends in a spin. This will cause several brown bubbles to spawn and travel outwards. | Staying as far away from Chief Bonzo as possible will most likely result in dodging the attack. However, due to the relatively small number of bubbles (and their enormous spread), the player may dodge the attack, even if they do not go out of their way to. |
Burning Chant | Chief Bonzo performs a chant that looks like he's fanning himself. This results in flames spawning from the center of one side of the arena that slowly crawl towards the edges. | If you see this attack, hop to one of the edges of the arena immediately. It will give you time to react if you are intent on dodging it. |
Rising Chant | Chief Bonzo performs a chant that causes reptilian ghosts to answer his call. The ghosts travel in the direction they are looking, with every other ghost travelling in the same direction diagonally. | Wait until a ghost has either begun or finished moving, then move to the spot they previously occupied. |
Note that every one of these chants can be interrupted by dealing damage to him. Additionally, if given enough time, Chief Bonzo will restore a single segment of HP. This seems to happen if he is able to complete one of his other chants. Neither of these facts apply to the chant he performs after taking damage, however.

Quotes[]
* "Who dares disturb the mighty Chief Bonzo and his majestic headdress, Henry?" * "All hail Henry and the great Dr. Wani! That goes for you too, frog boy!"
Trivia[]
- If Chief Bonzo is to be taken literally, "Henry" looks close enough to his regular headdress to the point where he could not tell the difference.
- The "monster" he refers to after his boss fight is the Tentacle Monster boss fought in Dr. Wani's Factory.
