Firefly Swamp is a recurring location in the Frogger series. It is the home of Frogger and his friends. This location sometimes acts as either the main setting or the starting point of some games.

Description[]

Firefly Swamp is a large swamp near a vast river located in an undisclosed country. Its environment features the typical vegetation of these types of places, with tall and leafy trees with thick trunks and strong roots like those usually seen in rainforests, ponds with lily pads and other plants floating on their surfaces, as well as extensive marshes; and it is inhabited by the typical endemic fauna of these regions, including varied species of insects such as dragonflies, mosquitoes and fireflies; small mammals like squirrels, weasels and otters; as well as larger predators like crocodiles, alligators and snakes.

Despite its many dangers, Firefly Swamp is a nice place to live in. It is here where Frogger and his friends, Lily and Lumpy, have their homes and live a happy life. Frogger's house is settled in front of a large pond, where he has an excellent view of the swamp. His home is in the shape of a large and yellow frog's head. Despite his adventurous nature, Frogger can frequently be found just relaxing outside of his house, lying on a lounger and taking the rays of the sun while listening to music, longing for the day he can embark on another great adventure; which for some reason often happen to randomly come to him without he even having to seek them out. As such, Firefly Swamp often acts as the starting point of Frogger's adventures in many games.

Trivia[]

  • It is possible that Firefly Swamp is the canonized reimagining of the berths Frogger had to reach in the original Frogger game.
  • Firefly Swamp was first introduced in Frogger: The Great Quest, where it is one of the areas comprised within the Third Kingdom. However, this characteristic progressively lost relevancy as more titles were released, including the many reboots the Frogger series has gone through, to the point that it is disputable if this is still considered canon or if it has been completely dropped (though the latter seems to be the most plausible).
  • Lumpy talks in an exaggerated Louisiana accent, a region known for its many marshes and swamps, so it is likely Firefly Swamp was inspired by or that it is actually located in this U.S. state.
