Frogger's House is a location in Frogger: Ancient Shadow, allowing Frogger to talk to characters present, look at treasures and costumes he's collected or bought, access the shop, among many others. Small details and tidbits of the game's story can be found here, such as Dr. Finnius's notes and findings, and bonuses can be missed if the player doesn't visit during certain points in the game.

Outside[]

When entering Frogger's House from the World Map, the player will spawn in the middle of the area. The player can:

  • Talk: By interacting with the characters present, Frogger can talk to each of them.
    • Lily is present nearly all of the game, and only goes away for a short time if the player chooses not to accompany her before leaving for the Sealed Heart. If the player chooses to accompany her, by going to the Practice level, she talk with him for a bit before giving him a potion that will revive him once. If they choose not to, however, they will find Berry instead, who will give Frogger an extra life piece. She can be found sitting on a tree stump near the entrance of Frogger's House.
    • After defeating the boss of Tears Of Spirits, Finnius returns from his trip and tells Frogger about his studies and recent findings. He asks Frogger if he's seen a design around Firefly Swamp, to which he declines. He prepares to look in the White Savanna before Frogger offers to in his grandfathers stead. Finnius later tells Frogger about the Hidden Caves as it "hides the truth of Firefly Swamp".
    • After defeating the boss of the Elder Ruins, Igunis will show up near the entrance of Frogger's house under the tree to the left. He will tell Frogger that the journey to Doom's Temple is too dangerous, and will leave once the player clears the first level of that area.
    • Mohan will show up sometime after meeting him in the third level of Tears of Spirits, and will appear near the top right of the area, next to his vending machine. He will tell Frogger that he's stocked the machine, and that he'll continue to do so as time passes. He will also show up near the end of the game, saying that Frogger is his best customer, and to keep buying from his vending machine so he can take a trip to Hawaii. (He heard they have penguins there.)
  • Read: After defeating the boss of the Hidden Caves, Frogger can interact with the stack of books next to his grandfather to read its contents, narrated by Finnius himself. These range from Firefly Swamp's history, to information on Crocodite, and even about Firefly Swamp's hero and the Ancient Wani Tribe. These entries are updated as the player progresses through the game, and can be missed if the player does not read them at certain points in the story. Additionally, there are multiple entries that can be missed if the player does not continue to read after the initial entry. List of Journal Entries
  • Exit to the Title Screen: By interacting with Frogger's chair, the player is given the option to exit to the Title Screen. Any unsaved progress will be lost if the player chooses to do so.
  • Shop: After meeting Mohan in the third level of Tears of Spirits, he will set up a shop in the top-righthand corner of the area. This shop will be restocked as the player progresses through the game, meaning that everything cannot be bought as soon as it is unlocked. List of Shop Items

Inside[]

First Floor[]

  • Exit: The player can exit Frogger's House and return to the outside.
  • Mail: By selecting the basket to the right of the entrance, the player can read mail sent to Frogger sent by characters in the game; usually Berry or Lumpy. Some letters may involve what characters are doing at the time or may hold hints to defeating a boss or hints for a stage. Some of these letters may contain a seed that corresponds to a plant that will be displayed outside of Frogger's House. List of Letters
  • Cabinet: By selecting the cabinet, the player can look at the treasures they've collected from secret areas or bought from the shop. Not all treasures are obtainable on a first playthrough, meaning the player must beat the game at least once to obtain all 25. List of Treasures.
  • Closet: By selecting the closet, the player can dress Frogger up in any of the costumes they've collected from secret areas or bought from the shop. There are 44 costumes in total.
  • Stone Tablet: The stone tablet may seem useless at first, but it keeps track of how many secrets the player has found in each level of every world. Though slots are filled in by completing specific secrets, it does not include every Treasure or Costume obtainable. This means that if the player wishes to 100% the game, the Stone Tablet can help to a certain degree. How much it helps depends on if the player has yet to find specific secrets.
  • TV: By selecting the pink TV, the player can watch cutscenes that they have already seen in game, as well as concept art known as Sketches after clearing stages and beating the boss of every world.
  • Go to Second Floor: By selecting the mat to the left of the entrance, the player can go to the second floor of Frogger's House.

Second Floor[]

  • Go to First Floor: By selecting the mat once again, the player can return to the first floor of Frogger's House.
  • Piggybank: By selecting the frog-shaped piggybank, the player can see the total amount of coins they've collected and can spend at the shop. The more coins they've collected, up to 999, the bigger the piggybank grows.
  • Diary: By selecting Frogger's diary, the player can save their game without having to clear a stage first.
