Herald the Tax Collector is the 3rd stage of Frogger: Helmet Chaos if Frogger chooses to go to the Beach exit of the previous stage, Firefly Swamp.
Description[]
Here Frogger will encounter Herald, a heron that acts as tax collector. Herald wait on the road to Starfish Beach and charges anyone travelling along it in order to pass through.
In Frogger: Helmet Chaos[]
When spoken to, Herald will stop Frogger, telling him that he'll have to pay the toll to pass. Frogger then asks if he's seen a round toad with something on his head. If Frogger answers "yes" to Herald asking if he knows him, Herald will say that someone like that did pass by, but didn't pay the toll. Frogger would then have to pay for the both of them for a total of 300 coins. Doing so will award Frogger with a Health Container Lumpy dropped. Choosing "no" leads to Herald saying he hasn't seen him, and charging Frogger 150 coins to pass.
If Frogger chooses to pay either toll (his own or his and Lumpy's), Herald will say that he's free to go, but offers Frogger the chance to play with his special weasel if he pays 100 more coins. If Frogger agrees, he'll be sent to the level: Weasel Weight for Me. If Frogger decides not to pay the toll or not to play with Herald's weasel, he is sent to Starfish Beach A.
Trivia[]
- It is possible to get the Health Container and go to Weasel Weight for Me, but this is only feasible if the player accessed the secret area of Sleepy Forest first. Otherwise, they'll have to choose between the Health Container and going to Starfish Beach A, or skipping both to go to Weasel Weight for Me.
- The Health Container Herald gives you is the third potential Health Container the player can obtain if they choose to go to Beach at the end of Firefly Swamp.
- Though Herald runs the toll leading to Starfish Beach, if Frogger chooses not to pay the toll, he is still sent to Starfish Beach, strangely enough.
