Otter

The Otter is an enemy in Frogger. They are small predatory mammals that swim in the rivers looking for prey.

Description[]

The Otter is the last enemy that appears in the game, usually from the third level and onward in most versions. It swims between logs in the river section with its head above the water; in later levels, it can also be found swimming between triads of Turtles. While because of this it usually doesn't pose much of a threat, care must be taken not to stay too near to the edges of a log when one is nearby or it may snatch Frogger.

In some versions of the game, the Otter will occasionally poke up its head in the berths at the top of the screen; if Frogger tries to enter that home while the Otter is inside, he will be eaten.

Otters don't appear in some ports of the original Frogger, like the first Atari 2600 version by Parker Brothers, Intellivision, and the Atari 5200 and Atari 8-bit versions.
