Pocus (ポーカス Pōkasu) is a character and the main antagonist in Frogger's Adventures 2: The Lost Wand.
Description[]
Pocus is a magician from another dimension called Magic World who acts as the main antagonist of Frogger's Adventures 2: The Lost Wand. He clung onto the insatiable desire to control the Eternity Wand's power, and in the grand scheme of things, the very realm that he resides in.
While posing as his brother, Hocus, he wears a white and yellow robe with a star-shaped accessory on the front of his hat. Unlike his brother, however, he wears a top hat instead of a traditional cone-shaped wizard's hat. When his identity is revealed, he changes into purple and pink robes, and the star-shaped accessory becomes a skull-shaped one.
History[]
Frogger is trying to relax in his house as usual, but when he opens the refrigerator doves come flying out of it. Confused, he grabs the remote but this explodes into a bunch of flower petals. A strange looking man resembling some sort of wizard then comes out from a mirror. Presenting himself as "Hocus", he explains to Frogger that the reason for all of these strange occurrences is that the Eternity Wand, a magical item that keeps all of the Elements –Fire, Ice, Darkness, Light, and Wisdom– in harmony, has broken into five pieces. He asks Frogger to help him find the shards so that the Eternity Wand can be whole again, to which Frogger agrees.
However, in reality this strange man turns out to be the evil Pocus, the actual responsible for breaking the wand when he was trying to steal it. Using his magic powers, Pocus can see through Frogger's eyes and talk to him telepathically.
While exploring Volcano Island, Frogger starts suspecting Pocus is up to something nefarious. After Frogger defeats the giant robot in Future Island, Pocus becomes even more demanding for the fifth shard, which will finally unite the whole Eternity Wand. Frogger soon realizes he has been used by Pocus this whole time to gather all the five shards so he can reunite the Eternity Wand and with it gain ultimate control over Magic World.
Frogger finally discovers Pocus's real identity, and that he has been keeping his brother, the real Hocus, inside a glass cage this whole time. Frogger helps Hocus and frees him from his imprisonment.
Hocus informs Pocus that the power of the wand is too much for him, but Pocus ignores him, and instead he challenges Frogger to a matching game. Frogger matches all five elements, causing Pocus to lose control of the wand, but fortunately Hocus manages to regain control over it.
Free from the evil influence of the broken wand, Pocus apologizes to both his brother and Frogger for everything he has done; and in the end, it is seen that Pocus has finally learned to control the Eternity Wand and even has a wand of his own.
Personality[]
Under the Eternity Wand's influence, Pocus is power-hungry, mischievous, calculating, and manipulative. Succumbing to this corruption drove him to imprison his own brother and impersonate him to trick Frogger into assisting him when the Magic Shards separated from the wand. He was also so arrogant that he shrugged off Hocus's failed attempt to peacefully get through with him and patronized him for keeping the wand all to himself yet wouldn't use the wand to its full potential.
After he finally came back to his senses, he expressed extreme remorse for his actions. However, he does retain a bit of his mischievous side when he joins his brother in using the wand's power to intentionally play a prank on Frogger in the game's ending cutscene.
